Zainab Panjwani School of Midwifery (ZPSM) is a premier institution committed to excellence in midwifery
education. Our primary mission is to train skilled community midwives who are equipped to provide exceptional maternal and newborn care services, particularly in underserved communities across Pakistan.
At ZPSM, we emphasize comprehensive training and a deep commitment to both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, preparing students to become competent and compassionate midwives capable of leading safe and effective childbirth and maternal care.
At ZPSM, we aspire to be a center of excellence in midwifery education, shaping the future of maternal and newborn care in Pakistan. We strive to equip midwives with the expertise to deliver safe, respectful, and high-quality care to mothers and newborns within their communities.
Our mission is to advance the practice of midwifery by providing students with the highest standard of education, supported by a
rigorous curriculum and clinical training. We are dedicated to producing skilled and ethical midwives who
are equipped to address the health needs of women during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and
in newborn care.
Through our partnership with the Panjwani Charitable Foundation, we continue to support women's education,
raise the standards of the midwifery profession, and ensure that our graduates are prepared to make a positive
impact on public health in Pakistan.
ZPSM offers a two-year full-time Diploma in Community Midwifery accredited by the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC). The program focuses on obstetrical midwifery, equipping students with the necessary skills to conduct normal deliveries in both maternity centers and home-based settings. Upon completion, students are trained as Skilled Birth Attendants (SBAs), capable of providing essential maternal and newborn care in the community.
To ensure continuous professional development, ZPSM offers regular training sessions for nursing staff. These
sessions focus on essential competencies, including infection control, blood transfusion,
safe
medication practices, and emergency management, among other critical topics. Our commitment to ongoing
education ensures that our graduates are equipped with the latest skills and knowledge in midwifery care.
Upon successful completion of the academic portion of the program, all students are required to complete a one-year internship at Zainab Panjwani Memorial Hospital. This internship is a crucial part of the curriculum, allowing students to apply their knowledge in a clinical setting under the supervision of experienced midwifery professionals. Students must sign a legal agreement to fulfill the internship requirement. Upon successful completion, they are awarded their diploma.
ZPSM is proud of its growing alumni network, known as ZAINABIANS, which connects past students to foster continuous professional development and community engagement. This network provides alumni with opportunities of guidance for further education, professional growth, and support throughout their careers.
